WMS API
Nearmap’s WMS 2.0 is a GIS industry standard Web Mapping Service API. Nearmap WMS 2.0 (referred to as WMS) integration allows you to load high-resolution imagery into your off-the-shelf GIS and CAD applications.
Nearmap WMS 2.0 is an OGC-compliant Web Map Service that lets you load high-resolution Nearmap imagery directly into GIS and CAD applications without any custom tile integration. WMS is based on OGC WMS 1.1.1.
When to use the WMS API
Use the WMS API (rather than the Tile API) when:
- You are working in an off-the-shelf GIS or CAD application such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or AutoCAD.
- You need a projection other than Web Mercator (EPSG:3857). WMS supports multiple projections, whereas the Tile API is Web Mercator only.
- Your organisation has already configured a Simple or Custom API service in Nearmap MyAccount.
Using the WMS API
To load Nearmap imagery via WMS you need a personalized WMS URL. Two types of WMS service are available:
- Simple WMS URL - provides access to the latest available imagery for your subscription. Suitable for most use cases.
- Custom WMS URL - provides access to specific survey dates, content types, and other advanced configuration options.
- Generate your WMS URL in Nearmap MyAccount. For detailed setup instructions for specific applications, see the WMS 2.0 Integration article in the Nearmap Help Center.
